Last Day in Navarre

On our last day in Navarre we rode East to the Destin area. It was a totally dreary day with light rain and clouds. We stopped at the beach, but the sky was so over cast and cloudy that even the pictures were not inviting.
We found a very large Outlet Mall with tons of stores and visited a few of those. Found some new comfy shoes and then we headed back to the MH.

There was a slight break inn the rain & I had promised Bentley a ride in his stroller, so we took a nice walk down to the dock and little beach area at the CG.

He definitely didn't like all the doggies in the CG, and he was a little concerned with all the water around him on the dock. But, he did like his walk in the stroller.

For dinner we drove West to Pensacola to Landry's. The food was fabulous even though it was raining the entire trip.

On Monday we turned in the rental car and drove to Montgomery. It was uneventful, thank goodness and we discovered that Finnegan likes riding on the dashboard. Who knew our nervous kitty would be up for that.

Once we parked in the CG he was joined by the other 2 and they all had a great time looking out at everything. Bentley had to have a ride around in the stroller, of course.

Then Finnegan wanted one too. Boy, he is really coming out of his shell. Such a brave kitty.

We went out to dinner with my brother and his wife and had a nice unrainy day for a change.

Navarre Beach, Fl

Well I finally was able to upload some videos on You Tube under Tails From Tennessee. I could upload them, but they kept going under my name instead of TFT where all my other videos are. The new ones were just too long to post here so I had to post them there.

We left SA and drove to Navarre, Fl for a couple of days. We were able to pick up our rental car thanks due to the time change which was an hour earlier. We didn't do much that night. Both Finnegan and Bentley have decided they like riding on the dashboard to see everything they can.

The CG here is not nearly as nice as the one in SA. It is long, narrow and crammed full of RVs with no privacy. It is on Santa Rosa Sound as opposed to the ocean, but with a car to get around it doesn't much matter, It's not likely we would stay here again if we came back to this area.

Yesterday, we went to Alphy's Cafe for a great breakfast. The food was good and they had they had the cutest fish quilt hanging on the wall. The fish were pieced with prairie points for fins and the bait was embroidered. Very, very cute, Of course I thought of Mark Skomp. Kathy needs to make him one like this for his "office".

After breakfast we drove to Pensacola which is about 30 miles west to a fabric/pharmacy called A & E Pharmacy.   http://aandefabrics.blogspot.com/2014/03/welcome-to-fabrics-blog.html
Well it is a pharmacy where you can have your prescriptions filled, buy shampoo, jewelry,  gifts, make-up, foot powders, mardi gras beads, items from oriental trading and every craft and sewing item you can think of. They have about 4000 bolts of name brand fabric including Moda.  Lots of yarn and knitting supplies, quilting supplies, patterns, books, paints, tatting, crochet, threads, tea towels, you name it. From the outside it looks like a dump, but boy there have the goods and they are not old fabric lines either. Found some yarn and a couple of patterns. Very interesting place. They also had a section labeled appliances, but they didn't seem to have anything in stock. You just never know when you'll need a new refrigerator when picking up a few yards of fabric.

After that we drove over the bridge to the beach and west to Fort Pickens. Unfortunately it was raining and we couldn't enjoy the beach other than looking at the dunes and the sights on the NPS Gulf Islands National Seashore.  http://www.nps.gov/guis/planyourvisit/fort-pickens.htm

Who knew this very interesting Fort was here and was used for so long. We didn't get to see as much as we wanted to due to the rain, but it was a very nice visit just the same. At least it wasn't that cold.

Today we will probably drive over to the Destin area just to check it out before the rains come again.

Christmas Day Fun

We had a wonderful time the Ryan, Najla, Emma and Trevor. We spent the whole day with them. Emma got up about 7AM and started opening her presents. What fun! There were LOTS of presents.
A few minutes later Trevor joined the fun.

One of the presents we gave Emma was a Mr Buckles backpack. Boy did she love that. She didn't take it off and wore it while opening her other presents and riding her shooter.

Trevor loves to bounce so we gave him a riding elephant that he can bounce up and down on, ride or push. We think he liked that too.

Maryann got Emma a giggle doll and Emma really loved it, but the video I took is too long to post here, so I will put it on YouTube under tails From Tennessee with some others.

Later in the day we went over to the neighborhood playground and the kids had a great time playing on the swings, Emma is fearless when it comes to climbing and will tackle anything.

Christmas Eve Day Fun

We had a great day, Ryan and the family came over to the CG in the morning and played with the kitties. We went for a nice walk through the CG.
This is such a nice CG. On one side is the Coastal HWY and the Atlantic ocean and the other St John's River.
At the backside of the CG on the St John's River is a nice fishing dock with a fish cleaning station

Next to the fishing dock is Aunt Kate's restaurant where we had lunch.
Our meal there was fantastic. David had fish tacos with cheese grits and they were really good. The fish was fresh and perfectly prepared. The menu and service were top notch. Evidently this restaurant dates back to the time of Henry Flagler and is quite a tradition in this area. We would eat here again for sure.  http://aunt-kates.com/

Emma enjoyed her shrimp and FFs.

After lunch we walked over to the playground and both Emma and Trevor had a wonderful time.

We had a great Christmas Eve even Bentley..

A Fun Day in St. Augustine

We had a great day in SA with Ryan, Najla, Emma and Trevor. There's just so much to see and do in downtown SA. We walked around the older area, but there was more to see than we could see in one visit.
This is the hotel Casa Monica. A very beautiful and expensive hotel indeed.

This is part of Flagler College,
                                                                      Lightner Museum
This cemetery s from the 1700's

We took a fun horse and carriage ride through old SA. The driver was very nice and had a special relationship with his horse, Chip. It has to be tricky driving a carriage in the middle of all
the traffic and people. This time of year it was particularly busy.

After our carriage ride we went for lunch at Meehan's Irish Pub.

Afterward, we went back to the house. While Emma napped, Trevor was showing off his new walking skills.
