Delayed Posting of St Augustine Trip

Since I've been under the weather, I never finished posting about our trip to SA.
On Sunday the kids came over to the campground and we did hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. We sat outside on the picnic table while the kids played on  their trikes & bikes.

It is so cute how Trevor does everything that Emma does.

We had a very large campsite this time, so there was plenty of room for the kids to play in the dirt. Even 2 of the kitties were out in their play pen watching it all.

Tuesday was Najla's birthday, so Monday night we wanted to take them out to dinner with the restaurant being Najla's choice. She decided on Columbia Restaurant.
This restaurant and the one in Tampa has been around since 1905 and has a lot of history.
I had never eaten at the one in Tampa, but now this is twice for the one in SA. It does not disappoint.  The decor is beautiful with white tablecloths, paintings, statues, and Spanish tiles. The waitstaff was excellent and the food wonderful. Najla's parents Pam and Randy were able to join us for dinner also. It was so nice to see them since we hadn't seen them since the wedding.
We had a great meal and a great time in SA. There is just so much to see there and we really didn't see much of what is has to offer. We did have a great time visiting with the kids.

The next weekend Najla and Ryan went to Washington Oaks State Park and sent us some pictures of the kids. I just have to post a couple since we did such a lousy job getting good pictures of them while we were there.

Trevor's idea of "smelling" the flower. Love it.

And so we bid farewell to SA until our next visit there.

A Great Visit to St Augustine

We had a great visit to St Augustine except for the fact that I came down with a horrible cold or the flu. It started with a sore throat, sinus congestion, chills, fever and a horrible cough which is still hanging on. I thought it was just a cold at the time, so I tried to limit my time with Ryan, Najla and the kids so I wouldn't share all of that fun with them. We did get to see them however.

On Friday night we went over to their house. Najla was off that day and she and the kids were making pizza for diner. The kids had on the cutest little aprons to help make the pizza. Too bad I didn't get a good picture of that. I did get a picture of David reading Emma a story. She is just so cute.

On Friday David & I went to St George St, a pedestrian street with lots of small shops, restaurants and people. We had lunch at the Columbia Restaurant which had authentic Cuban cuisine. David had a Cuban sandwich and I had a meatloaf sandwich. Even though we ordered sandwiches they brought each of us a half a loaf of Cuban bread. If you've never had fresh baked Cuban bread it is wonderful. By the time our sandwiches came with were full of bread and water.
David also enjoyed a bowl of black beans & rice.

The restaurant had some great tile work. Good quilt inspiration.

On Saturday they all came over to our MH and we went to lunch at Aunt Kate's. Maryann came up from Ocala to join us. It was an early lunch and we ate out on the porch. Afterward, the kids played a little in the water.

Saturday we went to A1A Aleworks for dinner. Being Saturday it was a bit of a wait, but the food was good and we had a nice view of the Lion's Bridge.

Trevor a Emma really enjoyed their mac & cheese followed by ice cream for desert.

St Augustine Visit

We left home headed for St Augustine for a few days. The kitties took a little while to settle in, but are now totally relaxed. Nicholas had a fun time enjoying his video in his bunk.
Last night we had dinner at Aunt Kate's which sits on the back property of the campground we are staying at. We had a great meal and walked out onto the dock to take in the beautiful views.

Today, we'll try a little site seeing.
