We tried to get a early start on the road. I went out to get the car ready to tow and David unhooked everything (power, water cable TV and sewer) from the motorhome.
We left the KOA Campground, headed for Virginia. I love driving thru Virginia (I81) and the lush greenery of the mountains. We were close to the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, but not on it.
Just couldn't get good pictures while moving.
We have a RV GPS which is programed to take us on major roads, no tunnels and to avoid toll roads. For some reason when leaving I 81 at HWY 64 it sent us down 664 through the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest thru Lindenhurst which was like a roller coaster ride. Up steep hills, down steep hills and all around the trees on a narrow road. The MH really was struggling to get uphill, especially since we were towing. It was a nail biter for sure. It seemed like it took forever. We were so happy when the landscape finally leveled out somewhat. It ended up taking us right to the campground. What a scary ride that was, Last time we came down Highway 151 on Rockfish Valley road. A small road, but not near as hilly and curvy. WHEW !!!!!
We had reservations at Devil's Backbone Brew Pub for dinner. We were seated right away. Our waitress was all business. She looked like he/she Rachael Levine and sounded like her/him too. The menu was good, but David came for the beer. He selected the Snoochie Boochie IPA since it was one he had not tried before.
He said it was good. I don't like beer and rarely drink anything but water, but I decided to try the bartenders special, a Limoncello Gimlet. After all I'm on vacation.
It looks innocent, but tasted like rubbing alcohol. UGHHHH. Won't be having that again.
Our meal was very good. David had the Fish and Chips and I had the burrito with ground bison and elk meat. It was very tasty and filling.
We went back to the motorhome to spend time with the kitties. Bentley sat out with us in the stroller for a while. The weather was just perfect in the 70s. We are here for another night. It's a nice campground with good internet. We usually bring our satellite Dish for TV, but decided to leave it home this time. We have 2 Samsung TVs which have internet access so we can watch TV on those. Most of the campgrounds we are in have cable anyway so we are set.
