A sampling of Dawn's Manly Feathers

What an exciting day today. After picking up the rental car we drove over to Historic Down town Overland Park for a visit to Penzey's Spices. This is David's very favorite spice store and since there is not one in Chattanooga he usually has to order them over the Internet. You can imagine his joy and excitement when we discovered there was one here in Overland Park. I'll post a picture of him coming out of Penzeys with his cherished spice purchase.

The icing on the cake was the discovery that Harper's Fabrics was right across the street from Penzeys. For the quilters out there, Harper's was a featured quilt shop in the Fall 2008 issue of Quilt Sampler magazine. What a great little shop. They had a vast selection of patterns and fabrics. What a unique little neighborhood too.
After lunch I had my first long arm quilt class with Dawn Cavanaugh. She is a very talented quilter and an excellent teacher. She was just named the teacher of the year for 2009. Great job Dawn! It was a fun class and I learned lots of new feathers.

  1. I'm glad David is stocking up on his spices. Maybe I'll get to sample some of it this summer. Barbecue and veggies? Hint hint. Was the quilting class a spur of the moment thing, or was it planned?

  2. I've been planning this quilt meeting for months. I had 3 hands on classes to day and the demo's tomorrow.

You're always welcomed for David's special pulled pork Bar B Que.
