After dropping off the car we headed back onto I-70 towards Leadville. As we drove we saw more of the Rockies covered in snow and still snowing in some areas near the Loveland Ski area, Breckenridge and Silverthrone.
Looks like someone ahead of us is going rafting.
We had a pretty steady climb. Here we are at 10,027 ft and still climbing.
We stopped at the Leadville airport to pick up our rental car and drove over to the campground. At least this rental agency was rarely close. We arrived at the Sugar Loafin Campground and we were the only ones in the entire campground. I know they don't open until mid May, so they probably haven't been very busy. Not the same views as the last campground, but much more woodsy and isolated. We expected to see wildlife out here. When we were in Central City there was a mountain lion, bear and moose alert, but it was entirely too populated a campground to worry about anything like that. Here, it's a different story.
Since our campground didn't have cable David set up the satellite dish.
We drove into town for dinner at Tennessee Pass Cafe. Because of the name we had to eat there. David had a buffalo burger and I had meatloaf with Brussel sprouts. The meal was pretty good. Back to the MH for a relaxing night waiting for some wildlife. We expect the temperatures will drop from mid 50's to 32. Crank up the fireplace.
