We left Munising (Christmas), Michigan and drove up to Lake Linden on the Keweenaw Peninsula. It wasn't a long drive and the road wasn't as bad as I had expected. We had a good view along Lake Superior a good part of the way.
We went through a few small towns on our way NW, with the largest being Houghton which is a college town.
The campground we stayed at on Lake Linden belongs to a city park and had no sewer hook ups, no laundry, but did have good wifi. I spoke with the camp host before arrival and she said to check in with her at the first RV with the porch. I did and rang the door bell several times with no answer on a Sunday. I assumed she was out shopping. Normally there is a camp host that either tells you or takes you to your site. This one had no one. There were only a couple of other RVs there, so we disconnected and I drove ahead to look for some indication of where we should be. I saw pick notes with names on the numbered posts and found one towards the end with our name at site #9. So we parked there.
It was right across from the lake and the dock. It seemed to be a vey nice city park and campground. I tried a couple of times to reach this woman and it wasn't until I called and told her we were leaving this morning that she met with me so I could pay her. Guess the are pretty laid back here,
There was a beautiful sunset over the lake and the kitties enjoyed sitting outside. Bentley of course went for a walk in his stroller. It was quite windy here with winds about 16-18 mph.
There was a lovely Harvest Moon that night, but the next was too rainy and cloudy to see anything.
The next day we took a ride up to Copper Harbor via Eagle Harbor. The drive was very nice with more views of Lake Superior. Far in the distance was Isle Royale. It is part of the National Park Service and only accessible by boat.
The main reason I wanted to go the Eagle Harbor was to go to The Jam Pot. It is a bakery run by monks. They are supposed to have wonderful cream cheese muffins and other items, BUT after Labor Day they are closed on Mondays. I was so disappointed. When we drove by there was a huge truck there delivering supplies.
We had lunch at the Mariner North in Copper Harbor before driving back to Lake Linden.
The tree had some fall color, but not very much. It was 82 degrees here after being 52 in Munising. That didn't make sense after being farther north.
On our way back to the CG we passed Lindell's Chocolate Shoppe, just a few blocks away from where we were staying. It was actually a breakfast/lunch place in an old building. They were closed by the time we drove by. Here's a little info on it.
