Day 4 Visiting the North End of the Outer Banks

After breakfast we drove north to visit the most northern of the four lighthouses on the island. There was a bit more traffic and stores than where we are staying in Rodanthe. Of course we had to stop at Wal-Mart to buy a cheap vacuum cleaner. The ride was nice and we had a opportunity to see all around Corolla. We even stopped by Dairy Queen for a small blizzard.

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse was very picturesque against the blue sky, The weather was perfect and it was relaxing to get out of the car and walk around a bit. There was a little antique village with an old school house and church

Next stop, headed back south was in Kill Devil Hills (just south of Kitty Hawk) at the Wright Brothers Memorial. The Memorial is managed by the National Park Service so we were able to get in free with our senior pass.

The field where they did their first four flights was marked with the distances flown and there was a replica of the plane they few. It's amazing how far man has come in aviation.

Next stop was the Bodie Lighthouse near the Oregon Inlet. Another nice one.

Back home again. The kitties were all getting along just fine, Here's Nicky. He looks like he's caught in the act of doing something bad. Not so. He has been very good this trip.

Here Nicky and Bentley are just all tuckered out---from doing what, I don't know.

My little log cabin quilt. It measures about 15" wide, just the right size for the motorhome wall.

More tomorrow.
