Day 6 A Walk Along the Beach

We got up early, grabbed our cups of coffee and went for a 2 mile walk along the beach to the Rodanthe Pier. The beach was almost empty and it was cool and refreshing.

The sun was already up so we missed sunrise, but no worries.

Down to the pier and back to the motorhome.

This is not a very clear picture, but the houses in this area are so unique. Many if them are painted pastel colors or left with cedar shake on the outside.

We thought of Mark when we saw these fishermen out fishing early in the morning on the beach.

Back to the motorhome to pack up and get ready for out trip to Virginia Beach which was a quick trip, about 130 miles away.

After arriving in Virginia Beach we picked up our rental car and headed to the KOA campground. The campground was very nice. It was spacious with lots of trees and almost empty. The kitties loved it because it had squirrels that would sit right on the picnic table next to the motorhome for them to see.
The only issue was we were right between the Oceana NAS and Camp Pendleton NAS. All day and all night until about 10 pm the NAS were doing take off and landings of the Navy's F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet. Very impressive as they were quite low over the campground. At first Bentley would hide under the chair, but now he's used to the noise. Actually we are too.

Thanks to Amy Doolittle we had a nice seafood dinner at Harpoon Larry's. Her daughter lives here and she recommended it to us. I had great crab cakes and shrimp. YUM! As you can tell, a large of  our vacation is eating local foods.

Tuesday we plan a trip to Williamsburg and around the area.

More....later.
